State Executive Orders
Governor Jay Inslee has invoked his emergency powers to issue multiple orders related to the COVID-19 pandemic via proclamations, most notably the Stay Home, Stay Healthy order.

Since February 29th when he issued the first proclamation on COVID-19, Proclamation 20-05, the governor has issued a series of proclamations intended to slow the spread of the virus or ameliorate its impacts.

Local Government
City and county governments have also been active. King County Executive Dow Constantine and Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan have both issued emergency declarations under powers granted them by county and municipal code respectively.

- Seattle City Council LegislationUnder the Chapter 10.02 SMC, the mayor is required present any emergency declarations or orders "to the City Council for ratification and confirmation, modification, or rejection" as soon as practical after making the order. After presentation, the council takes action on the mayor's orders via resolution.
