Access to Law Library Restricted Databases & Tools

Information about accessing these databases

Introduction

The law library subscribes to several commercial online legal research databases and legal technology tools. These are licensed for UW Law authorized users and are accessible via Single Sign On (SSO) with your UW Net ID or with individual IDs and passwords. This guide describes who can and how to access these resources.

Legal Research Databases: Who & How

Access to Westlaw, Bloomberg Law, and Lexis is licensed for the following:

  • UW Law students, faculty, staff, and librarians;
  • UW Law Librarianship students who are currently interning at the Gallagher Law Library; and
  • UW students who are enrolled in a course that is cross-listed in the School of Law (when the instructor determines that access is necessary).

Legal Technology Tools: Who & How

Access to Procertas, LegalOn, Hotshot Legal, CITE and Harvey AI is licensed for the following:

  • UW Law students, faculty, staff, and librarians;
  • UW Law Librarianship students who are currently interning at the Gallagher Law Library; and
  • UW students who are enrolled in a course that is cross-listed in the School of Law (when the instructor determines that access is necessary).

Access to these legal technology tools depends on the tool. Please consult the Law Library A-Z Databases and filter Subject to "Legal Technology Tools" to find information on how to access them.
